A CELEBRATION OF TIMES GONE BY

A piece of Tamworth’s history was celebrated today, with the Calala Cottage marking four decades as a public museum.
The Tamworth Historical Society gathered to mark the occasion with a brass band and re-enactments, complete with period costume.
The cottage is more than 140 years-old and has become a popular tourist attraction.
“Back in 1976 on this actual day it was opened to the public for the first time so today we want to celebrate those 40 years,” said Melinda Gill, member of the Tamworth Historical Society.
