POLICE RECOVER TACTICAL KNIVES AFTER 170KM/H PURSUIT NEAR KEMPSEY

A 20-year-old driver has posted speeds of up to 170km/h during an alleged police pursuit north of Kempsey yesterday.
During a patrol around 2:30pm on Saturday, police detected an unregistered Holden Commodore sedan on the Pacific Highway in Pola Creek.
The vehicle allegedly failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued, during which time the Commodore reached speeds of up to 170km/h.
Then around 3:40pm that day, police attended a home at Coachstop Court in Telegraph Point, where they located the vehicle and a 20-year-old man, who was arrested. Police also allegedly located a number of tactical knives during a search of the vehicle.
The driver has since been charged with a range of offences, including driving an unregistered vehicle, driving disqualified, Skye’s Law, and possessing prohibited weapons.
He appeared in court today, where he was refused bail to reappear this Wednesday.
