A man is recovering in Newcastle’s John Hunter hospital after being rescued from the balcony of his burning unit on Ocean Street, Dixon Park this morning.
Fire crews responded just after 6am and found the man in his 50s on his third floor balcony, suffering burns and smoke inhalation.
The fire was contained to the single unit.
