LENGTHY JAIL SENTENCE EXPECTED FOR MAN WHO TRIED TO MURDER 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL

A man who sexually abused a 13-year-old girl after cutting her throat, has been told to expect a lengthy jail sentence.

25-year-old Peter Kevin Smith attacked the girl at Jesmond Shopping Centre late last year, just hours after threatening a young mother.
