MARINE RESCUE WARN OF TREACHEROUS BAR CROSSING

Marine Rescue volunteers are reminding boat users to take extra care when crossing the Evans Head bar.

The warning comes after two vessels capsized over the last month.

A build-up of sand, from recent river dredging, has made parts of the crossing too shallow for smaller boats.

They say skippers should check their vessels and sea conditions before heading out, as well as making sure there’s enough life jackets on board.
