• A lucky person has won a whopping $10-million in the Lotto overnight. The ticket was bought at Georgetown Newsagency in Newcastle, with the registered player taking out the entire division one prize.
• A house has gone up in flames at West Wallsend overnight. Neighbours videoed the intense flames as firefighters arrived on the scene. It took at least two hours to bring the blaze under control.
• Australia has officially dodged a recession with an improvement to the national economic report card.
• Global singing sensation Adele has wowed crowds in Perth overnight, kicking off her very first Australian tour.
• The Duchess of Cambridge has made a special trip to spend time at a Ronald McDonald House in the UK, paying a heart-warming visit to some families facing a tough time.
• And there’s been an incredible sight in the skies above Sicily, with Mount Etna exploding to life. The volcano, which has been largely dormant for the past two years, shot bright red lava into the night – the spectacle lasting until dawn.
