An 82-year-old pilot miraculously escaped with only leg injuries after his helicopter crashed at Lismore Airport this morning.
Emergency services raced to the scene just before 11 to find the two-seater craft on its side, next to the runway.
It’s believed the man had been practicing take-off and landing manoeuvres when the accident happened.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene – the chopper is a write-off.
