ACTIVIST GIVEN GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND OVER COAL TRAIN PROTEST
A climate change activist, who climbed on top of a coal train in the Hunter Valley, has been given an 18-month good behaviour bond.
James Yarnold faced court in Scone today over the stunt near Willow Tree, which prevented Whitehaven Coal trains from reaching the Port of Newcastle for five hours on Sunday.
“We need to stop burning coal now and if the government isn’t going to do that I think it’s up to people, farmers, nannas, locals to lock on and do what they can,” he said.
Mr Yarnold says he won’t be deterred from taking action, despite recent changes to protest laws.
