SEARCH FOR MISSING ROCK FISHERMAN, SOUTH OF LAKE MACQUARIE
Family and friends of a Lake Macquarie rock fisherman are on the scene, as a search continues for a man reported missing from Snapper Point, Frazer Park.
The 40 year old from Morisset was last seen at 7pm on Saturday, arriving at Snapper Point, in Lake Munmorah National Park – it’s believed he was fishing alone at the notorious spot.
Originally from The Philippines, it’s believed the man has been living in Australia for 3 years.
He’s married with a young child.
His car and some clothing was found yesterday by a ranger and the Westpac Rescue helicopter made a search of the area.
The search resumed at 8am today, involving Police Rescue, the VRA, SES, Police Dog Squad, the police airwing Polair, and Marine Area Command, along with local police.
Sea conditions were described as very rough with large waves over the weekend and there had been warnings issued about hazardous conditions. It’s not believed he was wearing a life jacket.
