FIRE CREWS AND HAZMATS RESPOND AS BOAT SINKS ON MOORING

New South Wales Fire and Rescue used a range of assets to combat a fuel spill at Port Stephens, after a large motor cruiser sank at its mooring.

The 25-metre vessel went down, off the Lemon Tree Passage marina, just before 1 o’clock this afternoon.
Fire crews called in a purpose built emergency craft to set a floating boom around a diesel spill from the cruiser’s tanks.
Attempts to contain the spill and salvage the cruiser are continuing.
