TONY WINDSOR TAKES ON BARNABY JOYCE
Former Independent MP Tony Windsor has announced he will attempt to return to federal politics by challenging Barnaby Joyce in the New South Wales seat of New England.
Mr Windsor, who retired from parliament at the 2013 election, says he feels compelled to run, after seeing things in his electorate ‘stall.’
He’s frustrated over the loss of a defence contract for a flying college in Tamworth and concerned about the proposed Shenhua mine, fearing its potential impact on water supply in the Liverpool Plains region.
Mr Windsor criticised Mr Joyce for doing ‘absolutely nothing’ for the Murray-Darling Basin plan, and a lack of support for renewable energy and alternatives to fossil fuels.
