FROSTY START TO THE WEEK IN THE HUNTER

It’s a sign of winter not often seen in the Hunter, but today’s icy temperatures left a mark.
Freezing temperatures hit the Hunter, with some needing to scrape ice off their windscreens.
NBN weatherman Gavin Morris says the mercury dipped below freezing at Williamtown this morning, which is rare because the town north of Newcastle sits at sea level.
Much of the region was spared from the icy conditions thanks to a layer of cloud, but won’t be so lucky later in the week.
Morris says “that layer of cloud will clear and the next few nights will become extremely cold with widespread severe frosts likely across the Tablelands and Upper Hunter.”
