Newcastle’s historic post office could soon have a new owner, with the Awabakal Aboriginal Land Council confirming it’s considering selling the rundown building.
Deputy Chairman Richard Green says the Land Council has been contacted by five potential buyers.
Among the proposed uses for the building; a restaurant, government offices and a hotel.
The Awabakal Aboriginal Land Council was granted ownership of the former post office in 2014, after winning a Land and Environment Court battle.
