A popular Hunter picnic spot is back open, just in time for the weekend.
Mount Sugarloaf Road was closed following a 20-metre landslip during last year’s April storms.
Lake Macquarie Council has since spent $200,000 stabilising the road, which was reopened to traffic today.
“We’ve basically evacuated down to about 10 metres into the bedrock and we’ve keyed some concrete sections into that and built up to where we can form a new road pavement over the top.”
