Armidale Dumaresq Council’s proposal for a four- council merger, which includes Guyra, Uralla and Walcha, has been knocked back by the New South Wales Local Government Minister, Paul Toole.
A spokesperson says a “legal assessment of the submission found it did not constitute a proposal under the Local Government Act.”
However, council can make another submission and if it meets requirements it will be referred for examination.
Armidale Mayor Herman Beyersdorf says it will re-submit the proposal, and will discuss it at a meeting on Monday night.
