Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson believes the roll out of four new Westpac Rescue Helicopters is the perfect opportunity, and reason, to reinstate winching capabilities in the North West.
The Tamworth base is expected to receive an AW-139 aircraft by May 20-17.
The local MP met with the organisation’s General Manager, Richard Jones, yesterday to discuss progress.
“The helicopters are on the production line in Italy as we speak, the first one will arrive in about July and will go into fit out mode.”
Mr Anderson has submitted a report to New South Wales Health Minister Jillian Skinner and a statement to state parliament regarding the need for winching capabilities in the region.
