SENATE INQUIRY RECOMMENDATIONS COULD CRIPPLE HUNTER WINE INDUSTRY
The Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Association has slammed a Senate Inquiry into the country’s wine industry, after it proposed to phase out rebates for small vignerons.
“It is the small producers in the Hunter Valley that produce the premium wine, it is the small producers that employ the people here in the valley, it is the small producers who essentially are going to be hit hard by this” says Ian Napier from Wombat Crossing Vineyard.
If endorsed, the changes could see operating costs rise by 29 per cent.
