BUSHFIRE DANGER PERIOD ENDS EARLY

An unusually quiet bush fire season along the Mid North Coast will see an early end to the danger period for Gloucester and the Great Lakes.

The region managed to avoid any major fires, thanks to high rainfall.

From the 1st of March residents will no longer need a permit to light fires- but the Rural Fire Service say that’s no excuse for the community to become complacent.

“on a day to day basis you can still have fires that may threaten property and life on a given day so the community still needs to be vigilant in what they are doing with fire,”RFS Max Ryan said.

The RFS is also urging the community to update their bushfire survival plans.
