AUSTRALIA’S JOBLESS RATE RISES
Australia’s unemployment rate has jumped to six per cent in January, which was worse than market expectations.
As Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s new-look cabinet was sworn in, new figures revealed the number of people in employment fell by 7,900 in January.
Full-time employment numbers dropped by more than 40,000, while those in part-time work rose to almost 33,000.
Economists had predicted the jobless rate would remain at 5.8-per cent.
