VETERAN HERALD CARTOONIST RETIRING AFTER 30 YEARS
Cartoonists hold a mirror to the world… reflecting society’s triumphs, troubles and challenges.
Veteran cartoonist Peter Lewis and his faithful pup are retiring from the Newcastle Herald after 30 years.
Group Managing Editor of the Newcastle Herald Chad Watson says “his drawings go to the very heart of a story and often give them a new life of their own.”
“While humour is his hallmark, Lewis is arguably at his most provocative when commenting on serious issues. He has the rare ability to distill complicated subjects with a few strokes of his pen.”
Peter Lewis’s farewell cartoon will be published next Saturday.
NBN’s Natasha Beyersdorf caught up with Peter early last year – exploring the razor-sharp social commentary of one the industry’s finest.
