MEREWETHER KNOCKED OUT IN SEMIS OF SURFEST TEAMS CHALLENGE

Merewether finished as the best placed Hunter club at this wekeend’s Surfest Teams Challenge, knocked out in the semi finals.

The decider eventually featured two Sydney clubs, as North Avalon squared off against North Narrabeen.

World Qualifying Series surfer Cooper Chapman put Narrabeen in front early.

But Avalon came roaring back thanks to Shane Carrol, before Chris Salsbury put the boys in red further in front with a big three wave total.

With time running out, Jordy Lawler gave Narrabeen hope of a comeback with two solid scores.

The title went down to the final wave, with Dylan Moffat scoring slightly better than Sam Taylor, to hand North Narrabeen the title by just half a point.
