NSW GOVERNMENT APPROVES NEWCASTLE HOSPITAL PLAN
The state government has given the green light to a plan, which will see the number of beds at Newcastle Private Hospital increased.
Healthscope’s original plan involved constructing a new building with three levels of parking and three levels of hospital space.
That’s now been modified to include a seventh storey, which will provide an extra 15 patient beds and operating theatre.
“The Hunter community is fortunate to have a mix of high quality private and public health providers. These extra beds and additional health infrastructure will assist the health system to meet demand and provide timely treatment,” said Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald.
An elevated pedestrian link will also be constructed between the existing Kingston and Croudace buildings at the hospital.
