The federal member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker says he’ll consider standing for a leadership position with the Nationals whenever Warren Truss steps down.
Speaking in Canberra, the Coffs Harbour MP said he’ll throw his hat in the ring in the event of a vote on leadership.
Mister Hartsuyker’s main rival for promotion by party members is Minister for Agriculture Barnaby Joyce.
Whoever’s successful in replacing Mr Truss would become Deputy Prime Minister in the Turnbull Government.
