Several lucky pooches could be on their way to new homes across the Hunter, following an overwhelming response to National Pet Adoption Day.
PetStock stores across the country, including Adamstown, took part in the initiative to encourage people to give orphaned animals a second chance.
“Phone’s been ringing since eight o’clock this morning. People were very interested in coming in and seeing how many dogs are up for adoption,” said store owner Allan Turner.
