ANGLO AMERICAN BEGINS WINDING DOWN DRAYTON OPERATION
Anglo American has begun winding down its Drayton operation in the Hunter Valley, with around 100 workers offered redundancies.
The company says the majority of those were voluntary.
It comes after the Planning Assessment Commission ruled against the Drayton South mine extension last November, because of its potential impact on nearby horse studs.
Further redundancies will take place during the year, with the mine to cease operations by 2017.
