Despite fierce community opposition, Kyogle Council has continued to support plans for a proposed Basalt Quarry at Cedar point.
Council has referred a development application for the project to the Joint Regional Planning Panel which will decide the future of the development.
A group of Cedar Point residents have vocally opposed the quarry, claiming it will cause health problems and disturb their rural lifestyle.
The panel is expected to make its final decision on the project by the end of June.
