TOY WAREHOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE
A toy warehouse in the New South Wales Lake Macquarie region has been destroyed by an overnight fire.
Emergency services were called to Bennetts Green just after midnight and found the building well alight.
A Fire and Rescue spokesman said up to 10 fire trucks were used to battle the blaze.
Chief superintendent Dave Felton said firefighters managed to stop the fire spreading to a neighbouring carpentry business, but the toy warehouse roof had fallen in.
“It is sad. It’s always unfortunate when we lose a building or a piece of infrastructure in any community,” he said.
“Obviously it impacts on people’s livelihoods.”
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
A spokesperson from the Transport Management Centre said the Pacific Highway is open in both directions and there are no delays to traffic in the area.
