GUNNEDAH TO VISIT LINHE DISTRICT AND SHENHUA HEAD OFFICE

Work towards a sister city relationship between Gunnedah and Inner Mongolia’s Linhe District is moving forward.

A group of 17 will visit the area in July, and tour Chinese mining company Shenhua’s head office, as well as one of its rehabilitated mine sites.

“If the Shenhua mine does go ahead we’ll have this very large operation here with lots of Chinese nationals and others visiting our area.”

It’s hoped the relationship would provide economic tourism to the North West, and the opportunity for educational exchange programs.

“It’d be marvellous to see young students from both Gunnedah travelling to the Linhe District in inner Mongolia and similarly young people from over there coming out here.”
