Port Stephens councillors will have a say on the proposed merger with Newcastle when they meet tomorrow.
They’ll vote on whether to employ an outside firm to assist with council’s submission to the state government.
Mayor Bruce MacKenzie is staunchly opposed to any amalgamation, but says the meeting will be an opportunity to hear from his colleagues.
Councils have until the end of next month to make submissions on merger proposals – with final decisions expected by June.
