PETITION FOR MARKETING CAMPAIGN AS CHEMICAL SPILL MARS LOCAL CATCH

The Newcastle Fisherman’s Co-op is petitioning the state government to fund a marketing campaign, to encourage people to shop there.
The co-op says the chemical spill from the Williamtown RAAF Base has discouraged consumers from buying local seafood.
“We’d just like to remind consumers that there’s some beautiful fresh local seafood out there, yes there’s been contamination in the Hunter River, they’re not working the river but we’re getting some great seafood from as far north as Seal Rocks and as far south as Tuggerah”, says Robert Gauta from the co-op.
It’s hoped the Premier will approve a $10,000 social media campaign.
