With speculation mounting that Warren Truss will step aside from the Nationals leadership before the next election, Inverell-based Senator John Williams has thrown his support behind Barnaby Joyce.
The New England MP is already the party’s deputy leader, and holds the agriculture and water resources portfolios.
“I’ve worked with Barnaby in the Senate, when I was his whip and he was Senate leader for the Nationals in the Senate. He did an excellent job. He knows what leadership is about.”
