A woman has died after a fatal head-on car crash at Whittingham in the Hunter Valley late yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the New England Highway, 5km south of Singleton, just after 5pm where a VW utility and a Holden had collided head on.
The female driver of the Holden died at the scene.
The four male occupants of the VW utility were taken to John Hunter Hospital with minor injuries.
The New England Highway was closed for several hours. The national road toll now stands at 24.
Investigations are continuing.
