MIKE BAIRD TRAVELS TO NORTHERN NSW TO INSPECT SHARK DETERENTS

Premier Mike Baird has hit the water on the NSW Mid North Coast today, to inspect shark deterrent measures.

Mr Baird is there to announce the state’s first eco-barriers nets, but Ballina Mayor, David Wright says the nets are unlikely to be installed for the area’s peak tourist period.

“I can’t see it being in the water until mid-January at the earliest,” Cr Wright said.

The 800 metre net will take a month to make and has to be transported from Western Australia.
