Fire fighters trying to contain a bushfire north of Newcastle say a cool change and expected rain will be welcome relief.
Cooler temperatures and rain are expected in parts of New South Wales later today and tonight.
The bushfire at Williamtown has so far burnt out 350 hectares of scrub and yesterday it was briefly was elevated from “Advice” status to “Watch and Act” when sparks broke a containment line.
Around 100 fire fighters are still on the scene.
