With just weeks to go serious athletes and joggers are in training for
the Sawtell Super Fun Day Sports Carnival, held on the first Friday of January.
Last year’s event was a hit, with 267 starters taking part in the 5.5 kilometre fun run.
“To the best of my knowledge its the oldest fun run in Australia, so that gets everything going then we get a parade that goes around the main street,” said organiser Warren Hollyman.
The Sawtell event has been a popular new year’s day carnival for 95 years, fun runners are urged to register online.
