CALLINAN’S TOUR HOPES SUFFER A BLOW

Merewether ace Ryan Callinan’s dream of qualifying for the 2016 world championship surfing tour has been dealt a blow.

Callinan was eliminated from the season ending World Cup contest in the final seconds of his Round 3 heat by Brazilian Gabriel Medina.

Callinan paddled for a wave with priority, but missed it, allowing Medina to catch it and pull off a spectacular floater.

The Australian is now sweating on the results of other surfers, before he learns whether he’ll join the tour for the first time.
