BIG BIG MAC TAKEN DOWN

Tamworth’s newest attraction has vanished from Waler Park, with the ‘Down Under Big Big Mac’ being taken down yesterday.

International fast-food chain McDonald’s voluntarily removed the fixture, after various complaints from the community about the attraction’s placement.

The eight-metre tall statue was an ode to local farmers, but caused a row after being erected next to a World War II Memorial.

A council spokesperson said McDonald’s and council had agreed it would be timely to take down the Big Mac along with the other festival infrastructure in the CBD.
