A Newcastle boxer has been crowned the World Boxing Federation’s Asia Pacific welterweight champion, following a bout on the Central Coast.
Michael Upton took on Port Macquarie’s Will Sands at Doyalson RSL, in a brutal 10-round encounter.
Upton was eventually awarded the win on points.
Meanwhile, in a middleweight bout, the Central Coast’s Josh ‘The Gentleman’ Jenkins beat Queensland’s Nick Wright in a technical knockout.
