Lismore Council has become one of only four in Australia to sign an international peace declaration.
The document has been signed by mayors from 30 councils in different countries across the world.
Mayor Jenny Dowell says everybody must work together to achieve peace, particularly in the wake of recent terror attacks in Europe.
