DEVIL ARK MILESTONE

A breeding program in the Barrington Tops to save the endangered Tasmanian Devil is about to reach a milestone.

Tomorrow morning, 22 young devils born and bred at the Devil Ark site, will be taken from their home and flown from Scone to Tasmania, where they’ll be released.

It’s the first time Tasmanian Devils born on the mainland have been released into the Tasmanian wild

A total of 40 healthy, disease-free devils from other participating zoos and sanctuaries around Australia, will be released on the Forestier and Tasman Peninsulas. The devils were selected for their wild traits and good genetics.

The precious cargo will fly from Scone on a specially chartered flight at 10am.
