TOUGH FIRST DAY FOR CENTRAL NORTH

Newcastle proved too strong for Central North’s top cricketers in the first round of the Northern Pool’s Country Championships in Gunnedah today.

The home side was on the back foot from the fourth over, with Adam Lole dismissed for a duck.

Simon Norvill and Michael Dawson set about rescuing the innings, but the side was dismissed for 136.

While Newcastle chased down the total in the 38th over,

Central North suffered two bigger blows, with Matt Trappel and Brendan Reynolds suffering tournament-ending injuries.
