TWO MEN TREATED FOR BURNS AFTER TRANSFORMER EXPLODES AT LIDDELL POWER STATION
Two men have been treated for burns, after a transformer exploded during maintenance at the Liddell Power Station near Muswellbrook this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the site, just off the New England Highway, at about 3pm.
One of the men, aged in his 20s, received serious burns to his face and hands after an electric shock.
He was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
The other man received less severe burns to his hands and was taken to Singleton Hospital via road ambulance.
AGL, says up to 300 people were evacuated from the site and WorkCover is investigating the incident.
