BUNDARRA’S NEWEST BRIDGE OFFICIALLY OPENED
After more than 70 years of lobbying – the community of Bundarra has celebrated the official opening of the town’s new bridge.
The $4-million structure replaces a low-lying crossing over the Gwydir River that’s been in place since 1919.
The new bridge will ensure the town has permanent access along Thunderbolts Way in times of heavy rain.
“It was actually given a good work out last week, with the big rains that we saw. Close to 100mm right across the region and under typical circumstances that road would have been cut for a couple of days.”
