MAN ARMED WITH KNIFE IN SIEGE

A Tamworth man allegedly armed himself with a large kitchen knife during a two-hour stand-off with police overnight.
Officers were called to Flynn Street shortly before 9pm amid reports of a neighbourhood dispute, where the man had barricaded himself inside his home.
Police say the man used an aerosol can and cigarette lighter as a makeshift flamethrower, and refused to come out.
He was eventually taken into custody about 11pm, and charged with using an offensive weapon to prevent a police investigation.
The man was remanded in custody and will reappear before Tamworth Local Court on April 2.
