TRACK UPGRADES ALMOST COMPLETE
The $2-million upgrade of Tamworth’s race course is edging closer to completion, with the final stage of renovations underway.
The main track has been out of action for several months, but come 2016 the facility will boast a new sand track.
It will also feature a new 1000-metre start barrier, which will allow the club to accommodate 14 runners per race, instead of 12.
“The renovations are coming along really well. We’ve got turf going down, most of the earth works are done on the two turns.”
The club will hold its first race meet in March next year.
