BOB BALDWIN TO PRESSURE DEFENCE FOR CONTAMINATION COMPENSATION

Member for Paterson Bob Baldwin, says he’ll continue to pressure the Department of Defence, to provide compensation to families affected by a chemical spill, near the Williamtown RAAF Base.
“The Defence Minister met with the state counterparts on Thursday night I’m hoping very shortly there is an outcome that delivers some sustainability for these people who have lost all their income”, he said.
Mr Baldwin says fishermen and producers of beef and eggs, living and working in the contaminated area, should be eligible for emergency funds.
An expert panel this week extended a fishing ban in the area, for another eight months.
