Volunteers at the Hunter’s Regional Botanic Gardens have received an early Christmas present, with Hunter Water making a $25,000 donation.
The group had been considering scaling back the garden’s opening hours, because of a lack of income.
“Times have been a bit difficult, so this grant will see us through until at least Christmas”
Hunter Water says it’s also looking at ways to secure ongoing funding for the park.
“It’s not just a tourist site, it’s not just an education facility, it’s also essentially a custodian of our emergency supply of water for Hunter Water.”
