Police are urging us to be on the lookout for counterfeit money.
The warning comes after an elderly lady unknowingly used a fake $50 note to pay for groceries at a supermarket in Quirindi.
It’s believed the fake note had been withdrawn from an ATM in Tamworth late last week.
Police say the counterfeit notes are of high quality, but are thicker and smoother than the real thing.
Anyone who comes across the fake money should contact police.
