THE FINKS CONTINUE THEIR BATTLE IN THE HIGH COURT

The black leather had been left at home in favour of business suits still, it wasn’t hard to pick who the Bikies were, walking into the High Court in Canberra this morning.
It was day one of a two day hearing, where lawyers for the Gold Coast chapter of the Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Gang are challenging Queensland’s 2009 Criminal Organisation Act.
Finks Lawyer Bill Potts argues, large sections of the legislation are unconsitutional.
“Because of a lack of procedural fairness, the fact that much of the evidence will be hidden in the form of criminal intelligence and simply because it’s a form of anti-association law that this law should not stand”
He says, the Legislation doesn’t only affect Bikie Gangs, it has the potential to be used against any organisation.
It’s likely the judges will reserve their decision until early next year.
