A young father, whose head hit the footpath after being punched in Coffs Harbour on Saturday night, has died.
26-year-old Kyle Watkins, from Ulmarra, had his life support removed late yesterday in John Hunter Hospital.
While a friend saw the incident from a distance, police are still trying to get a description of the attacker, who fled the scene.
“We’re reviewing CCTV, we’re doing a canvass of the area, but we are appealing to members of the public who maybe able to assist, to come forward or contact crime stoppers,” said Detective Acting Inspector Ian Corcoran.
The altercation happened at the corner of West High and Lyster Streets, just after 10pm.
